Saturday in a little town with no money. *Yawn!*

Well, yesterday, we got our stuff out of Beth's car. At least managed to get that back, despite the ex-jerk giving to the impound yard the only thing he left Beth with. Grr. Stored it all at a family member's house. Then we came back, handled a bit of business, and went to do some other stuff that really was unimportant. *shrug* Today is a slow day here. Not a lot to do on a day when lots of stuff is closed and what isn't requires cash to enjoy. Oh, joy. lol.

Well here's a site or two from our explorations:

about it for now, kiddies.

We be out. :oP

The Blog: Episode um... some big number.

Today we arose late. Even after going to bed early. Go figure. But today was the fun of dealing with the ex-hubby's prickishness first-hand. The car that was in impound was actually in his name and so he decided to pay off the loan and then hand over the title to the impound, just to be a complete and utter prick. What a lovely man he is. At least we got our stuff out of it, and thanks to my grandfather, got it somewhere to store it.  Then we went to a round of applying for jobs at the new Jack in the Box in the area, and Beth went in to check on that.  We followed this up with a run to the Job Connection to try to secure work thru other means (and I got two interviews from apps on Monster.com for next week - in Sacramento. Here's hoping I can manage to get that much money for gas and such. *sigh*) and now, finally, we are here, at the library, out of the harsh light and heat of the sun.

Today's pic:

Anyway, that's about it for today.

Today's Update: The Dread of the Doctor's Office!

Well, this morning started nicely. A very sleepy Beth had a Doc's appointment and so I took her there, after a brief pit stop for the usual morning rituals at the park's restrooms.  We then went to the clinic.  Her old anti-depressants were having some strange side effects, so we got her some new ones, and a few other things she needed. Then we went to drop off our recycling, and got all of a buck and change for it, and got a couple of 35 cent sodas from the vending machine at the store, and stopped for lunch. Dinner last night was a great soup/stew made with half of a turkey breast we were given by the food bank, and we had turkey sandwiches and a turkey-laced salad for lunch. Tonight we have burgers for din-din. ;)  (I *adore* burgers lol)  Next on our agenda sits a meeting with the welfare dept. to check on our status to renew our food stamps. Oh, joy... Always fun.

Anyway, have a great day and may the schwartz be with you!

"...bzzzt... Come in, Drake... Come in, dammit!"

"I'm here. All is okay for the most part. Had an incoming shell from mom-in-law but I think I managed to avoid it, and kept my troops shielded from the blast. Been scanning the horizon for opportunities, sent out a few rez-u-mays to see if anything bites at 'em. If so, I hope to reel 'em in. Still need to find food and shelter for the troops. Colonel Beth is beside me doing some R&D on using frogs as an anti-personnel device, but I don't know the progress on her research."

"...chhhhstx...bzzzt... What was that about mom-in-law? And frogs? Sorry, General, but I wanna know what you've been smoking?"

"I don't smoke! You know that, Corporal. Anyway, we're going to go into radio silence from here but we'll have the mobile comm gear with us if you need to get through. Drake out."

Dull day.

Well, so far, we've had breakfast, used the restroom (at the local laundromat - yeah!), and come to the library to use the computers. We're going to rummage thru our supplies after this to see what kind of lunch we can come up with, check the mail, and then head to Job Connection so that we can try again on the job front.  Beth did get one email from a job - fingers crossed. :) Hopefully that may lead somewhere when she calls them.  I also have a possibility of some computer work today. Fingers crossed there, too. :)  By the way, here's a pic of downtown so you can kinda see how lil this place is. lol

Thanks to those who have written us, and those who have donated. We appreciate any help you can give us to get on our feet.  Thanks.

Today's Latest: We're sitting around in the library after a wonderful time taking tests on Tickle.com together. This all, of course after a rousing day of web searches for jobs on Caljobs (http://www.caljobs.ca.gov) and Monster (http://www.monster.com). I (Drake) actually applied for about 44 jobs today... Some in this area and some in the surrounding cities and municipalities. I've finally decided that we need to go where the work is soon, and so I am hunting outside the area. Whichever of us finds a good job first, that's where we go and that's where we work on this stuff from. And that's that. So, now what we need is to try to get enough to get her car out of the hoosegow so we can be ready for interviews wherever the heck they are. *sigh* Well, we're still waiting for some serious help, though, Dad, thanks for the help you sent. We appreciate it. We're just waiting to hear now... and I am planning to do another batch application set for some other areas.  Wish us luck!

Well...

A lovely scorching day once again here in California, where we're escaping the heat for a while in the library on the computers. But soon, we must go hunt for work some more and I am still without my wallet OR any ID of any kind. This is a situation that I cannot, however, fix until I have enough money to pay for my ID and such. Oi. Why do they make it COST to get something you're REQUIRED BY LAW to have? This makes little or no sense. Sheesh. Anyway, we're broke, after having had to use what little money we had to keep gas in the car and food in our bellies, now that the food stamp card is gone. Here's hoping that a good samaritan out there can help us out at some point. We're no closer to getting Beth's car out of the pokey and all of our things are still there, since they won't allow us to get them without a Police release.

We're trying to garner free food samples. One company offers huge soup mix samples and we paid the shipping ($3.95) with a donation from paypal by a couple friends from OuterWorlds, Aragorn and Freaks. Thank you both so much for the help. You have our gratitude.

What a mess, no? But trying to keep chin up anyway. Hope all is well with you out there reading this. Best wishes.

Drake and Beth Steele.

Welcome to the Blog. Yes. THE Blog. Our Blog.

Well we have been doing our thing... had a good weekend, spending time together in Pipi (pronounced Pie-Pie) Valley and in Ione and enjoying ourselves altogether too much for a homeless couple. Then we got back on Monday and handled biz, including some more job hunting. Tuesday was sort of our kick-back day and we didn't do much. But we did play with the puter last night in the park and listened to some tunes and such.

Today was interesting though. First we went to have some oatmeal for breakfast and clean up. The cops came thru and gave us a hard time because Beth had to shave her legs for a job interview. Nothing illegal in that but the cop (a real ballbuster type) came by and gave us crap about it. ("That's not going to happen!") Yeah. Great cops in Jackson. Come to harass the homeless that need to use the park's facilities. Lovely.

Anyway, beyond that, the interview went well and we are keeping fingers crossed, and I am to talk to the guy from the print company today. So wish us luck!

Howdy!

We are doing okay... It's Friday, we're alive, and we MAY have jobs... maybe.

Here's hoping that SOMETHING comes thru from our applications. I am still on hold from the printing company... says to talk to him next Wednesday... Curves interview for my beautiful Beth went well... So now we keep applying elsewhere but wait to hear what is decided.

And try to make it thru two days of weekend with the usual lack of privacy and a nice hotel room lol.

We'll be having chimichangas tonight with sour cream and guacamole fried up in our wok tonight with a side of salad. Woohooo! ;)

And as for my beloved, I love her more than anything in this universe. Anything. And she is getting sweeter and cuddlier by the day. She is beginning to wonder what's wrong with her, and I tell her love changes stuff and she just seems to think it's just weird. ROFL... And she just said she was going to kill me for putting that in the blog. LMAO!

Too damned funny - she just psycho-knifed me with the lil golf pencil from the library! Making the psycho music sounds and all. LOLOLOL!!!!!

She's the cutest thing EVER. And I love her so much it kills me (lol after the psycho thing I wonder if it may be literal) ROFL

Later all!!!

So, it's that time again... BLOG UPDATE!!!

Hope you all are having a good time following our adventures and seeing what we're up to... Got another nice shower this morning and we both have job follow-ups tomorrow, Beth with an interview (you go babydoll!) and me talking to the owner of a printing company that knows me and going to find out if I am gonna get hired this time.

Anyway, beyond that, not much going... but we DO have some interesting stuff for you, from our twisted searches.

Still trying to search for work...
...and still waiting for replies to applications...
Always fun, no? Well, my sweetie Beth and I are still running around trying to eke out an existence while homeless and jobless, and thank goodness tomorrow is food stamps day or we'd be in trouble... We are just having the toughest time in some ways and having a wonderful time in others.

Last night, we had hot dogs boiled in a hot pot and some sort of greens and squash dish my gal made. Not too shabby. We have some Armour Treet stuff left and some stuff to make with it, so ... who knows...? Maybe that or maybe some pasta or... I dunno. lol Always fun making dinner with unplanned ingredients from the food banks but FAR better than having nothing.

Speaking of that, I've decided that just in case, if our story ends up out there somehow... (I don't exactly know how many people are actually reading our blog these days) if someone wants to donate to our cause, we would be eternally grateful and will email you a thank you for the help. I'm going to attempt to add a donate button for paypal to this post to help make donating easy. Here goes!

Dunno if it will work but I suppose I'll find out.

Happy 4th of July... Or something like that. ;)

Well here's a bit of an update... Met Vor in our little park where we eat and such (several hours late - Get a watch, duckie!) and then made fried Zucchini in the park in the electric wok. Talk about an odd but tasty little wok in the park... (I know - GROAN!) but we had a nice little visit for a while and then went on down to Oroville (that's ess-pan-yole fer Gold Town) and had a nice time visiting with ol' Argon the Aware and his sidekick (and other half) the lady Psylocke. We had a good time hanging out, chatting, and racing on Need For Speed: Underground (Damn that is a fun game) and had some good meals cooked for us and got to see Spider-Man 2 which was, by the way, a damned fine movie. (And um... *hanging head* I cried at the lovey stuff near the end cause I was with my own lil Mary Jane aka the lovely Beth and got all misty.) But the effects rocked and that punk Peter finally did something about that great gal. ;) Doctor Octopus' prosthetic arms were just badass...

Anyway... so we stayed a couple days, and on the 4th we went up to Lake Oroville to watch the fireworks... nice show with some great bursts but multiple launch points would have made the show that much more interesting. They did the whole thing from a single boat out on the lake. And MAN was that lake crowded... the boats were so packed you could probably walk across the lake from boat to boat lol.

And finally, we're home. The last day I decided to take my beautiful gal out to the mall (one of her fave pastimes) to just show her off and let her walk around and see stuff... I love her so much... she just makes me so happy... we held hands and I snagged her a carnation off the table from a restaurant and she loved it. It's in water in the car now. hehehe. And today we have been running around trying to take care of business. Got a nice shower and did laundry (thanks Dad for the help to do that) and checked the mail, etc.

So, there you have it. Our weekend in a nutshell. I don't know if Beth will do her own addition today but we'll see. Anyway, take care, world, and we'll talk at ya soon!
